Nice to meet you, I’m Jan

I have loved creating this course for you.

Growing up in an English village, I spent my childhood playing out in the the fields and woods, climbing trees and making dens.

The delight and charm of exploring a little stream, an animal trail, or the cobwebs at the base of a tree, has stayed with me ever since.

I have had several different roles in my life. I spent time in Japan where I learnt to appreciate a different sensitivity to nature and beauty.

Later I worked as an Educational Ranger, taking city kids out into the woods; giving them the chance to learn to trust, and then to love nature. This was such a delight for me that I have been guiding nature connection ever since.

I now practise as a holistic physical therapist, helping my clients overcome injuries and pain, and actively improve their well being.

Shinrin Yoku or Forest Bathing brings together these various loves and interests - sharing nature connection with others, Japanese culture, health and wellbeing, and caring for the environment.

All in one spellbinding and fun package!

Now I share nature connection through Forest Bathing in several ways; one-to-one with some clients in my clinic as a healing practice, group walks focussed on wellbeing, and online on Youtube.

For some time, I have been wondering how best to offer this wonderful practice to a wider audience, and this course is my answer.

I passionately believe that Forest Bathing can play an important part in safeguarding the future of our planet.

The more deeply we all connect with nature, feeling the awe and belonging, the more natural it is to change our behaviour in the ways we need to, to protect our beautiful home.

I love Forest Bathing, not least because it means so much to me personally. My daily walk is a constant reawakening, and is the calm and the map that helps me navigate through difficult times.

Forest Bathing has helped me tremendously over the years, and I have witnessed what a powerful impact this seemingly simple practice can have in people's lives.

I invite you to join me and discover for yourself.
